Facebook marketplace purchaser

This guy reached out to me on fb regarding an item I was selling. He had asked me to keep it aside for him and he would pay me extra for it. Then he sends his cousin to meet me somewhere to confirm that the item is real and offers to make immediate payment. I did not receive the payment and he claimed it was because I was with a different bank and that his was a business account etc. He sent me a proof of payment. The payment was not real in any way. I said I would not give the item until the payment had cleared. At which point the cousin was getting annoyed and said he needed to go back to work. Luckily I was persistent. We eventually went to the bank to confirm the payment and while I was talking with a person there the cousin had disappeared. [Reported type: Facebook marketplace purchase]
